What is Malkia Africa Network's main objective?

Malkia Africa Network is dedicated to advancing the rights, opportunities, and voices of African women. We work to bridge the knowledge gap, dismantle systemic barriers, and create a free, fair, and prosperous Africa where women can thrive as leaders, innovators, and changemakers.

Why focus on women's empowerment in Africa?

Women make up 50% of Africa's population but face significant barriers to equality. They hold only 24% of parliamentary seats, contribute nearly 70% of agricultural labor while owning less than 15% of the land, and face a $42 billion financing gap for women entrepreneurs. Empowering women is the fastest route to transforming Africa's future.

What are Malkia Africa's main areas of work?

We focus on five key program areas: Economic Rights, Property Rights, Individual Rights, Legal Regime, and Socio-Cultural Norms. Our work includes capacity building, awareness creation, advocacy & policy influence, and research & development to create sustainable change.

Where does Malkia Africa operate?

We are headquartered in Uganda with programs and partnerships across Africa. We engage with women in both rural and urban communities, working with marginalized groups and in policy spaces to ensure women's voices are heard and acted upon throughout the continent.

How can I get involved with Malkia Africa?

There are several ways to get involved: you can volunteer your skills, partner with us on projects, participate in our programs, or support our work through donations. Visit our 'Get Involved' section or contact us directly to learn more about current opportunities.

What makes Malkia Africa's approach unique?

Our approach combines research, advocacy, and direct action to create sustainable change. We focus on both systemic barriers and individual empowerment, working at the grassroots level while also influencing policy. Our women-led perspective ensures that our solutions are culturally relevant and impactful.
