Our Team
Susan Mbabazi Tusuubira
Susan Mbabazi is the Communications and Influence Lead at Malkia Africa Network, responsible for shaping how the institution's research and field evidence reach the audiences whose decisions they are built to inform. Her work sits at the final stage of Malkia's Evidence-to-Influence Engine: ensuring that rigorous analysis and documented field observation are translated into messaging that policymakers, partners, and the public can actually engage with and act on.
As Communications and Influence Lead, Susan owns the bridge between Malkia's evidence and the people it is meant to move. She works closely with the Policy Arm to package research outputs into clear, credible narratives, and with the Field Lab to carry field voices into the wider conversation without compromising the evidentiary discipline those voices depend on.
Her function is not promotional in the conventional sense. Influence, at Malkia, means making the institution's evidence legible and persuasive to the decision-makers who shape women's rights policy, and Susan is the lead who ensures that work is done with precision, consistency, and respect for the rigour behind it.
Her commitment to personal development informs not only how she grows her own craft, but how she approaches the people Malkia reaches. She sees communications as a means of building capacity, confidence, and agency among the audiences and communities the institution serves, turning engagement from a one-way broadcast into a relationship that helps people develop alongside the evidence Malkia produces.
